Following the success of the Photography Competitions held in conjunction with the 2006 FEI World Cup Jumping Final and the 2007 FEI 5-star KL Grand Prix, our competition series have been extended to include other media platforms.
The inaugural
Power & Grace Short Film Competition is a nationwide competition open to students as well as independent and amateur filmmakers.
The objective is to provide an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to demonstrate their artistic flair, talents and creativity, and to express their views on issues close to their hearts through the lens. The competition is also to encourage, inspire and educate young people to create films and be exposed to real life experience of deadlines, budgets, technical and artistic aspects of filmmaking, etc.
Entries must reflect the theme. Each entry should demonstrate the filmmaker’s interpretation of Power & Grace – two powerful yet contrasting elements that connote strength and gentleness. It can demonstrate the contrast or blending of the two extremes or to show power and strength tempered with grace and beauty or to juxtapose the two strong adjectives.
The subject matter can be powerful yet graceful or to show force and kindness. There is power and grace in life – in sports, movements, dance, speech, the arts, music, nature, animals and people.
The theme calls for imagination, creativity and originality, the ability to portray contrasts or the harmonisation of two very different qualities.
There are no fees to enter and short films of any genre are accepted – documentary, docu-drama, drama, animation, and short films that pack a punch,
We strongly believe that this competition will serve as a catalyst to raise the profile of local talents and also represents our initiative to provide recognition for budding filmmakers. With this in mind, we offer the opportunity for the winning entry to be broadcast nationwide.
